Rural Tourism and Sustainable Development & A SWOT Analysis

Abstract

Rural Tourism is a new form of tourism in which tourists experience the rural way of life. The approach to sustainable rural tourism development is multidimensional. It can bring about positive economic and social changes in society. Based on the potential and resources available in villages, it can increase income and employment opportunities, improve the living standards and well-being of rural people. It can help maintain natural resources, ensure environmental protection, and create a balance in the sustainability of the economy. Through rural tourism, comprehensive development of villages can be achieved.
Rajasthan is such a desert state that possesses remarkable attraction in itself. Therefore, based on the SWOT model, appropriate strategies are suggested for sustainable rural tourism development. This study attempts to examine the significance of rural tourism and sustainable development.
