Abstract

Prostitution is not a problem in India only; rather it is the problem in the whole world. All the countries of the world are trying to deal with this problem, but the rate of the problem seems to be increasing instead of decreasing. The question is that different types of diseases caused by prostitution are seen in every country. Whichever country is suffering from this problem, they take necessary steps to prevent them, such as medical facilities, systematic regular care, etc. If the above problem is observed in India, then its roots are prevalent since ancient times, but many efforts were made from time to time to stop it but were unsuccessful because the common people and the rulers did not take effective steps to stop them. The main reason for this has been considered by the people as a means of entertainment and indulgence. Whenever steps are taken by the government administration to stop prostitution, then it secretly or indirectly stops for a short time and then starts again after some time. After the country's independence, effective laws were made to deal with this problem. And the judiciary has also made a commendable effort to stop it through important decisions. Through this research work, the researcher has to find out the causes of prostitution in society and study its impact on society.
